Join the New York City Department of Social Studies and Civics for a unique professional learning experience. We will embark on a walking tour of lower Manhattan that traces the history of NYC focusing on the role New York played in the American Revolution. We will walk through the very streets and see many of the buildings where history happened. These landmarks of NYC will help us to contextualize the ever changing city and make connections to the foundations of our city and nation’s history.
The tour will take place in two parts. Part one will begin at 10:00 AM in front of the steps of the “Tweed Courthouse” (52 Chambers St NY NY 10007) as we focus on the history around the city hall area. We will break for lunch at 12:30. Space will be provided for those who would like to rest at the Tweed Courthouse. Part two will begin at 1:30 and we will continue our journey through history and time as we make our way down Broadway ending the day at Bowling Green on the tip of Manhattan.
