Expired Unpacking the New Passport to Social Studies Curriculum: Global History and Geography for Grades 9 and 10 (Summer 2018, Session 3)

Passport to Social Studies, the NYCDOE developed social studies curriculum, is expanding to support Grades 9 and 10 during the 2018-19 school year. Passport aligns to the NYC Social Studies Scope & Sequence and integrates the New York State Social Studies Framework to provide models for effective and engaging social studies teaching and learning.

During this three-day professional learning session, participants will unpack the Passport program design and components while examining course content for Unit 1 of the 9th and 10th grade Global History and Geography courses. Participants will build turnkey training skills and prepare to implement the Passport to Social Studies program with their students.

NYCDOE High Schools are encouraged to select and register Grade 9 and 10 teachers who will then turnkey the workshop content with their school colleagues this fall. Space is limited. Per session will be available for eligible Grade 9 and 10 teachers, pending funding availability. See per session VC #436 (Passport to Social Studies Liaison) for eligibility requirements. CTLE credit is available.
