Expired Unpacking Passport to Social Studies: Community and Democracy in NYC

Join members of the NYCDOE Department of Social Studies and Civics as they lead an unpacking of the Passport to Social Studies curriculum and materials. The session will focus on making connections between the Passport to Social Studies curriculum and the exhibitions and resources of the Tenement Museum, and highlighting course content related to migration, immigration, urbanization, and housing. Passport to Social Studies was designed by New York City public school educators and experts and incorporates principles of quality social studies instruction, diversity and multiple perspectives, and the importance of inquiry with the objective of preparing students for a global community. It is the only comprehensive K-12 curriculum developed by New York City teachers for NYC classrooms.

Attendees of this full day, in-person workshop will tour the Tenement Museum exhibition A Union of Hope: 1869 and learn about resources and program opportunities for our students. Attendees will also have an opportunity to plan for their classroom integration and implementation.

Once your registration is confirmed you will receive a confirmation email.
