In this session, K–12 teachers will have the opportunity to connect with colleagues, interact with historians, and consider how to incorporate contemporary historical research into their Social Studies and Civics instruction. The objectives of this session are to: convene a professional learning community of K–12 teachers to elevate teacher practice and student learning in social studies and civics; explore best practices in building student knowledge and civic readiness; identify areas of relevance between academic scholarship and K–12 teaching to make common cause/interest in social studies/civics instruction and interests in the historical discipline.
