Join us to celebrate NYC Comic Con with a conversation between a prominent historian of comics, Maryanne Rhett, and the co-author of of the March Trilogy, Andrew Aydin. Rhett and Aydin will begin the conversation by briefly situating their work in and with comics and graphic texts. Following their presentations they will discuss creating graphic history, reading comics as a primary source, and the role of comics in history and social studies instruction. A lengthy Q & A will conclude the discussion. Participants will receive a set of primary sources from the National Archives collection and a copy of March Book Three.

This is a two-day Civics for All opportunity to learn how to foster civil conversation skills in the classroom. These sessions will be facilitated by the Constitutional Rights Foundation (CRF), a national non-partisan organization specializing in civic learning. Middle and high school teachers will learn how to facilitate balanced, student-centered, and student-led academic discussions.
