Sold Out The Sounds of the Harlem Renaissance

Step into the vibrant world of the Harlem Renaissance and join TeachRock and the Department of Social Studies and Civics for a day of professional learning at The New York Historical. Attendees will explore TeachRock’s Harlem Renaissance resources and discover how to use music as a primary source pedagogy, investigate Passport to Social Studies and Hidden Voices curricular materials about the Harlem Renaissance and Great Migration, while engaging with a thrilling exhibition that immerses visitors in the richness of Black LGBTQ+ life in the 1920s and 1930s.

This session, which is part of the 2025-2026 Rock and Roll Classroom PL Tour, will provide teachers with lesson plans, materials, and strategies to bring this transformative cultural movement to life in their classrooms.
